For those not already aware, my 20th birthday is tomorrow. I won't be a teenager anymore.

It's interesting to me how that my 20th birthday interests me more than my 18th did or my 21st will. When I turn 21, I'll gain the permission to drink and gamble, two things I don't really intend to do. When I turned 18, I gained the permission to smoke and play the lottery, which are both irrelevant, enter into contracts and have my own bank account, both of which are useful but I couldn't use for a while anyway, and look at porn, which I'd never really been stopped by before.

But turning 20... it's got none of that, but what it has is a change of leading digit. For some reason, that has my attention. *shrug*

Not that I'm going to do anything for my 20th birthday; I've got work to do, and I'll be tired in the evening, and my entire product team is going to be out of the office for the day.

I also turn 20 this year, and I agree that it seems more significant. Of course, there's almost nothing that I need to wait until 21 to do - I can already drink and gamble, and don't really do either. I had my own bank account since before I was 16, though I got a debit card at that age.

Is this the first birthday you've not been under your parents' roof during?

Gaining the right to vote at 18 didn't get your attention? You surprise me. I realize that it isn't important to many in your age group, but one of your obvious intellect and discernment should have been interested by that. ;)

Happy birthday, in any case.

I'm turning 21 in 18 days and I really don't give a crap. My 20th was awesome because immediately after, I went on vacation with my folks to Vegas. I think it's because this year I'm going to Anthrocon the weekend before my bday, so I'm getting all excited about that, which overshadows (literally) my birthday. I've seen too many losers in college to ever want to drink anyway.

Besides, 20 = 0x14, so you're still a teenager in hexland

You, sir, win the internet for tommorrow(today is almost over).

Well, early Happy Hatchieday, then. Hope you enjoy it ^^

25 was my most significant birthday, because it represented 1/4 century. Go figure. It was really a big emotional shakedown for me. I don't think that is going to happen again. Things like that were way more significant to me when I was in my twenties.
