All right, so I haven't been keeping up with voice posting. I didn't feel like it.

I'm in a Mariott hotel now, in the single most posh motel room I've ever been in. It has two couches. It has a fridge- full size. It has a full kitchen, including stovetop.

Microsoft's either trying to show off, or they figure it's relatively little compared to the cost of travel.

I learned on the first flight that there is very little security on the runway when you have to climb the stairs into the plane because the jetway didn't work. And on the second flight, I learned that a small child can scream for three fucking hours without ever taking a breath.

My cab driver was cool, though, so not all the transportation went badly. But I need to sleep now, it still feels like nearly 11:00 PM even though all the clocks here say it's only almost 9:00...

I'm glad to hear you made it fine and that you've got somewhere nice to stay (not that the latter is unexpected from Microsoft).

Have fun in Washington, and take pictures (of what you can, anyway) to share when you get back!

PS ... Any idea why your post thinks it's 4:35 in the morning? It's especially amusing because you brought up the time in your post.

Could be that his computer's time is off.. that's generally the reason.

I can't help it - an unsolicited warning

Having been a Microsoft technology developer for nine years, I wonder if they might be trying to overwhelm you with image. Beware the undocumented features of whatever it is they're selling you on, from a development studio to a job; they have an uncanny ability to demonstrate a perfect system that doesn't quite work once applied to reality.

Yay!

Picking the thing that stood out the most....

Sounds like the parents of said small child didn't think to give the kid a lollypop. Adults can pop their ears to equalise the pressure, kids can't, they need help. Lollypops and the sucking factor help with that. Of course then you deal with the sugar highs.....
