So I staggered forth and bought my textbooks today. (Okay, my father bought my textbooks for me today. Works for me!) I still think it's impressive the amount that people will charge for a pile of sliced dead trees; five textbooks, $487.27. That's getting three of them used...

At least the Computational Geometry textbook is as interesting as I had hoped! I'm looking forward to class on Tuesday. I'll be moving back in on Sunday- free at last!

Oh, and I qualified (although it's not yet official) for the TCCC, by coming in 71st on my problem set (100 or better to pass). Free T-shirt, and I hope I do well in round one on Saturday!

What Comp Geo book are you using?

Computational Geometry- Algorithms and Applications, 2nd. Ed'n, by de Berg, van Kreveld, Overmars, and Schwarzkopf

That Stormin' Norman, he's a bad-a** computational geometry algorithms dude.

It's a very good book, though I used it in my PhD seminar Comp Geo class, having used Joe O'Rourke's book for an undergrad class, and entry-level grad class, so the flow is different..

(as in, different things are in different chapters and order)

O'Rourke's book is better (IMHO) if you want example code, but they're both very good books (I liked the BKOS book..)

If you really enjoy the topic, you should consider getting both.. I recommend it. =)
