As I find my mind too unsettled to let me sleep, I try to meditate to still it. And as I fail to still it, thoughts drift up, quiet, independent, separate- and I can deal with them, and dismiss them, individually, when they wouldn't slow down enough to catch up to otherwise.

It's a little weird that the value of meditating for me is in large part due to my failures to do so.
