Note to self: When writing a Java routine that carefully avoids executing unneccesary code in certain situations, not calling the "pushForward" routine in an array when the item to be "inserted" would be placed at the first empty location anyway (as opposed to somewhere in the middle, requiring everything to be pushed forwards) , make sure to increment the value being used to hold the index of the last real item in the array...

DOH!

At least I programmed my code to throw meaningful exceptions so I could find what went wrong. That and toString() giving meaningful results.
