When it all just comes together

It's only the end of the semester. Today was the last day of Calculus III. So because I was running behind as usual, I didn't have the homework done. (It's not due until 4:00p, so it's not late. I'll just have to walk a whole three hundered feet to the Math Department Office.)

Only now, on this last day of class, on this last homework assignment, I finally get it. It's finally working, I'm actually doing the math right. They've finally taught us enough that I can make the connections I need, and it all makes sense now.

I am, at the moment, very glad that the final is worth approximately 45% of my grade, counting the exam grade it replaces in addition to its own 30% weight.

Also, this Mac in the ACM office has quite possibly the shittiest keyboard I have ever had the misfortune to type upon. The shift keys only work sporadically, and the spacebar physically sticks down, so I have to give it a good solid WHACK to make it actually activate, and it has to be directly over one of the sensors under the bar itself. Rrrgh.

Mac keyboards make me crazy too. Always have.

Glad you finally caught onto calculus. It is that way for a lot of people. I never had trouble with it as an abstraction, but did have difficulty applying it to real problems. Odd, actually, considering that in algebra and trig I always preferred the real problems because they gave it all a sense of purpose.

Excellent! I'm glad this material is finally making sense to you! Hopefully you can pull yourself up to a more respectable grade with this final exam.

I can't say I enjoy a similar story when it comes to logic... though. In fact, I am in a rather bad position. I need an 80% on the final exam to actually pass the class (The passing grade for P/F is 73% average, which seems a bit demanding for P/F/ However, I am in bad shape: I dont really understand the proofs. If we could work together in the near future once or even twice, please let me know. Maybe you can help me pull this miracle off so I can get my credit!

(Psst. You double-posted, so I deleted the first copy of the comment. No worries, everybody does that once in a while.)

As I said: We can work on Monday, and more if you prefer. I really would like to help you. Can you give me an example of the exact sort of thing that's throwing you? I'll be able to help you better if I know exactly what to be preparing for beforehand.

Also: On Friday, I'd like to track you down to hand over the Wind Waker disc, if not play a game or two of Magic. Or Soul Calibur, if I meet you at your room. Problem is, a class I thought was over yesterday is being held tomorrow even though there are no classes tomorrow. So that means I'll be busy until 11:00a, and then I've got ACM practice at 2:00p. That leaves three hours open, though; let me know if this will work, and I'll throw a Magic deck or two into my backpack along with my counters and life thingie.

Friday schedule: Chem 11-12.. lunch 12-12 45... and oceanography exam 2 30-3 30... let me know what is best for u...

As for monday... I appreciate all the help I can get. This 80& i need on the final is looking pretty daunting. Go to www.mindstuff.net/Fall2004/PHIL100-01 to see my class's syllabus. Then look at the extra problems around week 13... that should give a good sense...

Can I meet you at Subway at 12:00? I know the line will be huge, but it's as good a chance as any to get that Wind Whacker CD to you. If that doesn't work, what will?

I'll try to remember to have my cell phone on after class lets out, but e-mail me (use the @gmail.com address) if I forget- I check it really often when I'm hanging out in the CEC with nothing to do.

That's fine... I may be with Katherine for lunch... but I still want you to be there if possible... I may not arrive until closer to 12 15 though...
