Ah, I know summer is beginning when power flickers occur, it's raining horizontally, and the weather map is primarily red and violet. I'm just waiting for that tornado siren...

Red and violet? How pretty!

For very destructive definitions of "pretty."

Actually, the storm around here was rather damp, but straight-line winds never got higher than 50 or so; the really bad stuff went north and into Illinois.

I know, was being silly. We had violent thunder/lightening. But tornados are rare here on the east coast; hurricanes are our bane (June thru October)

That would be STL for you. It really does suck when one leaves the top of his car windows open while his car is parked on the side of the street, and it starts to rain...

Let's just say when I drove home last night...I wished I had a towel! I heard we should expect more storms this week!

Is that the meaning of "car wash?"

Yeah, we had that shit last night too. Took out the cable at 11:15 (which pissed me off to no end; I missed the last few minutes of the first episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and the entire second episode), and the power two more times at about 1 AM in quick succession.

The wind hit gale forces, I think. Tore off some incredibly huge branches (probably on the order of 100-200 lbs.) from trees and threw around numerous other smaller branches. No tornadoes, though, despite the massive amounts of sirens.

The weather here was actually nowhere near as bad as the "YOU ARE ALL GOING TO DIE" weather map might imply. I'm currently keeping a wary eye on the next line, resembling rather a marching squad of blue and green amoeba with red and violet nuclei, that's probably going to go north of me just like the last storm and the one before that.

I did watch the storm move into Illinois, and I wondered if you were about to get a bit wet from it...
